The Senior Director, Compliance – Corporate and Privacy Officer role will serve as the Privacy Officer for Orthofix and have direct responsibility for and assist with leading, driving and implementing all elements of the Orthofix Compliance Program.
This role will focus on dedicated, strategic partnership with the corporate functions and work closely with key stakeholders and partner with all business units in support of organizational Compliance and overall business objectives.
This role will be responsible for risk assessments, ensure proper controls are in place, serve as a subject matter expert on all healthcare policies and procedures, develop and update policies and controls, develop and implement auditing and monitoring initiatives, and lead and implement strategic projects in support of the Compliance program.
This role will assist the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (“CECO”) or the CECO’s designee in managing, developing and implementing various compliance initiatives for the U.
S.
shared services business units.
The Senior Director will provide Compliance guidance to corporate personnel in the United States and will serve as the lead Compliance advisor in the United States.
The Senior Director will promptly respond to Compliance questions and concerns and will build strong relationships with corporate personnel in US Shared Services business units.
The Director will focus on developing and improving policies, procedures, training, education, investigational protocols and auditing and monitoring systems in the U.
S.
The Senior Director, in coordination with the Compliance team, will also be responsible for investigating hotline reports, reviewing grant and donation requests, responding to general compliance questions and concerns, analyzing data metrics, conducting due diligence and conflicts-of-interest reviews on U.
S.
-based sales agents, distributors and other third parties, and monitoring and auditing.
The Senior Director will communicate with shared services leadership regarding compliance concerns, risk assessments, and other compliance initiatives.
The Senior Director will maintain the company’s ACHC accreditation status and will provide direction to the Compliance team and other personnel to ensure the company’s accreditation remains current.

As requested by the CECO, the Senior Director may prepare and/or present materials for Executive Compliance Committee Meetings and periodic meetings of the Board-level Compliance Committee.
This role will also oversee the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to privacy policies and procedures regarding the safe use and handling of protected health information (PHI) in compliance with federal and state HIPAA regulation.

Serve as a compliance resource for the corporate Businesses.
Draft, update and revise policies and manuals used by US employees and third parties.
Prepare training materials based on existing policies and industry best practices.
Monitor and ensure dissemination of policies, procedures and training to domestic personnel.
Review reports on monitoring and auditing activities and recommend and implement changes and process improvements accordingly.
Prepare status reports on certain monitoring and auditing activities as may be requested.
Conduct training and education based on risks identified through monitoring, observations, and reports.
Conduct and document compliance investigations, report inquiries from Orthofix’s Ethics Hotline to CECO or the CECO’s designee and work proactively towards timely completing the investigation.
Be responsible for privacy policies and procedures regarding the safe use and handling of protected health information (PHI) Partner with US shared services corporate leadership to review compliance concerns and initiatives.
With the support of the Compliance team, manage the company’s adherence to ACHC accreditation standards and readiness for periodic ACHC reviews and audits.
Participate in the Grant Committee activities by reviewing grant and donation requests and making recommendations to the Grant Committee to approve or deny these requests.
Proactively identify areas of improvement for the Compliance Program and AKS implementation activities and participate in the development of performance improvement projects.

Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities: Some travel is required A minimum of 10 years of diversified business experience, ideally for a health care manufacturer or provider.
Internal audit experience desirable Experience in durable medical equipment (DMEPOS) compliance, medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferable Experience in preparing effective presentations and reports using a variety of software programs Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey a positive and professional image in person, on the telephone, and in written communications with all levels of the organization and agents and representatives of the company.
Attention to detail in all written communications.
Sensitivity to confidential matters and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee, patient, and company information.
Thorough and detailed understanding of health care compliance concepts preferable.
