Under the direction of the Director of Finance, performs entry level accounting work within federal, state, and local guidelines.
Work involves preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of financial analysis and reports; establishing, maintaining, and/or overseeing accounting systems, procedures, and controls; and preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of agency budgets.
May assign and/or supervise the work of others.
Performance of accounting/financial duties, accounts payable, general ledger, and reconciliation of bank accounts.
Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Education, Training and Experience (including licensure and certification)
Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
Ability to use Microsoft Excel required.
*Open to candidates pursuing a degree in a relevant field, preferably third or fourth year students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of financial administration, budget control, and fiscal accounting; of governmental accounting; of budget control methods, policies, and procedures; and of laws and regulations pertaining to fiscal operations.
Skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and associated software applications.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct accounting programs; to budget funds; to set up accounting systems; to interpret laws and regulations; to apply accounting theory; to communicate effectively; and to assign and/or supervise the work of others.
Essential Duties
Devise, establish, implement, and modify systems for general accounting and accounting control procedures.
Responsible for general ledger accounting, and maintenance and reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to general ledgers.
Monitor bank depository functions; including deposit and bank account reconciliations.
Accounting entries and work papers are organized and supported by valid and approved documentation.
Knowledge and understanding of GL entries and assist/performs in the reconciliation of the GL to the accounts receivable system.
Bank accounts are monitored daily and cash receipts or payments requiring additional work are disseminated through proper workflows.
Responsible for invoicing, financial reporting, preparing budgets and addressing all questions for all current and new local, state, and federal grant reimbursement programs.
Acts as the liaison between funding partners, the fiscal staff and the Center's program directors.
Works hand in hand with the Grant Development Specialist during the life cycle of a grant, from application to all close out final reports once funding is expended.
Monitors and prepares budgets and submits requests for Center Grants.
Assists programs Administrators with the budgets for Grants which are prepared annually.
